Empowering Educators to Achieve Literacy Goals with Joy

Here at Daffodil Hill Press, we are educators who care deeply about students' literacy development. While our team publishes decodable texts, we don't just do that. We also support districts and schools in achieving literacy goals through professional development partnerships. We call this arm of our organization Still Learning.

Partnerships generally begin with a listening session, so that our team can help think about your district or school's literacy vision and goals in order to consider the way we can tailor a partnership that meets your needs. At its core, our goal is to engage and empower teams in refining and growing practices in order to support student growth.

Generally, we look at three questions as we set goals:

  • What's happening in the shared curriculum?

  • What assessments are currently being used?

  • What do we already know about how students are doing?

Even though we begin with listening conversations, that doesn't mean a one-size-fits-all path is the answer. Any kind of learning is a change process. So it's important that we know about your team's experiences and journeys so that we can harness that experience and tie new learning to the existing knowledge base. We think about goals that make sense and the pathways forward that will help us achieve them in your specific context.

Then, we chart a path forward. Whatever that path is, we work to keep student achievement and data at the center along the way. This may mean looking more closely at existing assessments or implementing some new ones strategically. As we examine data, we can also consider practices and curricular revision that can make that learning even stronger for all students.

Yet, we know that learning isn't professional learning if it doesn't result in changes in teaching and learning. We love working with teachers. That's why we seek to work as partners with leaders and teams, to harness existing knowledge and experience, and make professional learning and collaboration as joyful and simple as possible.
